Educational Psychology Research

Reading: Educational Psychology - Developing Learners by Jeanne Ellis Ormrod p.191 - 208

Findings:

  • Student's can absorb information more effectively when they can relate it to something they know
  • Meaningful learning more effective than rehearsal
  • The use of multiple examples helps information sink in
  • Don't overload students with information
  • Asking questions can help keep students focused on subject matter if they know they may be invited to answer immediately
  • Students more likely to pay attention in a stimulating classroom environment
