My project has taken a swift change of direction. I will now focus on investigating the evolutionary history of dance music in the hope of identifying how new genres are created.
I will produce an interactive evolutionary timeline which should illustrate how individual genres and sub genres have evolved and crossed over using music and imagery. To highlight my understanding of genre evolution, I will attempt to create a new genre from an existing genre or sub genre.
My hope is that by documenting and illustrating the evolution of dance music, my work will be a useful tool in helping others think outside the box rather than attempting to emulate the same ideas over and over again.
